Beartchi (ぐまっち Gumatchi) is a male Tamagotchi character that lives in the Patchi Forest. He debuted on the Tamagotchi School and has appeared in Tamagotchi: The Movie.
Name Origin[]
Beartchi's name comes the English word "Bear", the animal Beartchi resembles.
Appearance[]
Beartchi looks like a tall black bear with round ears and a small tail. His head is lighter than the rest of his body, and he has a yellow crescent shape on his chest as well as an peach colored circle on his cheek. He has short legs and long arms, and a Kuchipatchi-like beak.
Personality[]
Beartchi's intimidating looks and bad temper tend to scare other Tamagotchis and make them think he's going to attack them. However, Beartchi is genuinely easy going and is usually trying to help them instead.
Beartchi initially came to Patchi Forest to eat all the berries, but the forest's negative ions and plentiful hot springs made him lose the will to do bad things and turn kind instead. Because he spends so much time in hot springs, the fur on his body is darker than the fur on his head.[1]

Beartchi appears as a minor character. In one scene, he can be seen relaxing at a hot spring while Hapihapitchi flies around him, making him feel happy.

In "A Day in the Patchi Forest", he briefly visits hot spring with Kuchipatchi. He then buys a glass of milk from a vendor, and walks off. In "Super Heroine Chamametchi!", he appears in Chamametchi's dream as a giant monster that is destroying the city. He is eventually shrunk down, and runs off yelping as the citizens of Tamagotchi Town cheer. His Japanese voice actor is Kenta Miyake, and his English voice actor is Marc Thompson.
Tamagotchi![]
In "Ta! Chi! Chibipatchi, Kuchipatchi, Papapatchi" Beartchi talks for the first time and is depicted as having a bad temper. He yells at Dorodorotchi, Sukimakazetchi, and Dokukinotchi after encountering them and runs into the Chibipatchis who try to play with him. Kuchipatchi eventually runs away with them and Beartchi chases them and Papapatchi all the way to a hot spring. He then calms down after soaking in the spring and returns the Chibipatchi's rattle to them.
Beartchi accidentally scares Chamametchi and Imotchi in "Melodytchi-chama! Secretly Cheering Dechu" when he suddenly appears behind them while they're watching Melodytchi. He chases after them and Melodytchi eventually stops him to protect the two. Beartchi apologizes and tells them that he just wanted to see what Chamametchi and Imotchi were up to and didn't mean to frighten them.
In "Rolling! Guriguritchi of Patchi Forest", Beartchi tries to eat an acorn off the ground only to get attacked by it after it reveals itself as Guriguritchi's sibling. Guriguritchi's family then aggressively attack Beartchi whenever he comes near them and he ends up asking Mametchi and friends to help them get along. After a couple failed attempts, the group is finally successful when Melodytchi plays Happy Happy Harmony to get Guriguritchi's attention and calm them down. Beartchi then properly apologizes to them and the family no longer acts hostile.
GO-GO Tamagotchi![]
Beartchi appears as a minor character. In "New Spring Gushes Forth? Patchi Forest's Wagashebon", he can be seen relaxing at the chocolate hot spring that Wagassiertchi created.

Trivia[]
- In "Ta! Chi! Chibipatchi, Kuchipatchi, Papapatchi", Beartchi's body is depicted with one black color instead of the two shades of black he officially has. This is the only episode this happens as his subsequent appearances have the correct depiction of two shades of black.
