Tomomi (ともみ Tomomi) is a human girl who appeared in season 5 of Tamagotchi!. The school she goes to on Earth is First City Elementary School (市立第一小学校). Her best friend there is Yuka.

Name Origin[]

Tomomi's name is similar to the Tamagotchi friendship word, Tamatomo. Her name translated means "beautiful (mi) friend (tomo)", also known as a person who is wise and truthful in Japanese.

Appearance[]

Tomomi's style of appearance is very different from Tanpopo's, who was designed by similar artists from Pokémon. Tomomi resembles more Shoujo style characteristics because of her big eyes.

Tomomi has brown hair with a pink scrunchie tied to make a ponytail. She has a white T-shirt over a black sweater, with a pink bow and two yellow stars on the front. She also wears brown high heeled boots and blue shorts, and she has dark brown eyes. Her bag is light pink with two dark pink stripes, and a pink flower that is similar to Lovelin's ear accessory from her 2009-2011 outfit.

Personality[]

Tomomi is very polite and kind, but sometimes sensitive and shy. She is talented and good at sports and stage magic, and dreams someday she will become a magician. She likes putting on magic shows for the Tama-Friends, and her performances were admired at TAMAX-TV. Tomomi is also a big fan of Gotchiman, much like Mametchi. Most Tamagotchis are friendly towards her and eager to be her friend, but Madonnatchi and Herotchi are jealous of her when they see her successfully working at TAMAX-TV with Lovelin.

When she is faced with returning to Earth or remembering her friend Yuka, Tomomi becomes sad and sometimes shuts down. She is unwilling to talk about why she is upset with anyone and usually pretends to be fine and change the subject. When Papamametchi recognizes Yuka's signal on Tomomi's phone, she finally opens up to the Tama-friends and doesn't try to hide her feelings.

Tomomi officially debuted in "Hello! Big Mix-up in the Profile Machine?" when she was accidentally transported by Mametchi's prototype Tama Profy machine on its first trial run.

While Mametchi tried to figure out how to send her back home, Tomomi started befriending everyone and joining in with the tama-friend's adventures. In "A Rival's Bond", she enrolls in Tamagotchi School and becomes popular among the students. She ends up forming a bond with Kuromametchi, causing a Tama Heart to appear. In episode "Tomomi's TAMAX-TV Debut!?", she went to TAMAX-TV so the tama-friends could introduce her to Tamagotchi Town and she participated in a few shows. In "Tama Guinness Challenge-datchi!" she works with Kuchipatchi to cheer up Melodytchi by helping her create a giant chocolate cake to break a world record. When they tell her why they made the cake, a Tama Heart appears from their bond.

Mametchi builds multiple rockets to send Tomomi home in "To The • Earth! Goodbye, Tomomi", but all of them failed. She is sad to leave when boarding the rockets and offhandly mentions that she's not ready to leave yet to Mametchi. After the 12th rocket's failure, Tomomi looks relieved that she doesn't have to leave yet and reassures Mametchi that she is confident that he'll get it right eventually. Throughout the series, Tomomi also becomes uncomfortable when the Tama-friends ask her to share her profiles with them. She initially lies that she left her book at home, but when Kizunatchi finds it in "Happy to Be Outside! Kizunatchi" she quickly snatches it back and makes up an excuse for why she can't show it.

She later goes back home to earth in Tomomi Decision! To the Earth" after Mamemame Laboratory figured out how to transport her back using the signal from her phone. Tomomi finally reveals the reason why she is reluctant to go back home and why she kept her profile book a secret from everyone: her best friend Yuka wrote in her profile book that someone else was her best friend, devastating Tomomi. After the Tama-friends help her realize that she can have multiple best friends, Tomomi becomes ready to return to Earth and make up with Yuka. Everyone gives her their profile page and last goodbyes before she enters Mametchi's machine to be sent back to Earth. When she leaves, a Tama Heart appears above the machine and Kizunatchi notes that it came from the bonds Tomomi made with everyone.

Tomomi makes a minor cameo in "Pinch! Gotchi King Is Boiling!?", when Mametchi is asked a riddle about humans by Sphinquiztchi.

Trivia[]

  • In episode 112 of Tamagotchi!, when Tomomi had a flashback to the day she left, in the same flashback she has another about her best friend Yuka. It shows she has a pink Tamagotchi Nano or Tamagotchi iD L, and Yuka a Purple Tamagotchi Nano or Tamagotchi iD L. Both, if Tamagotchi Nanos, are similar to the first series designs. However Tomomi's Tamagotchi wasn't in her bag when she was accidentally transported to Tamagotchi Planet.
  • She is similar to Tanpopo from Tamagotchi: The Movie, in that she is a young female Tamagotchi fan who was accidentally transported to Tamagotchi Planet. Also, when she first met the Tamagotchis, she squished Kuchipatchi's face similar to how Tanpopo squished Mametchi's face.
  • She was the first human protagonist to appear in the Tamagotchi! TV series. The others were Yukine and Suzune from GO-GO Tamagotchi!.
  • As a result of Mametchi's Profile Machine exploding when Tomomi was transported, he went on to make the Tama Profys instead. Hence, The Tama Hearts collecting arc began in the same episode that Tomomi befriended the Tamagotchis.
  • Judging by the fact that she's in Japanese elementary school, she is somewhere between the ages of 7-12 years old.
  • She shares her voice actress with Azusa Nakano from K-On! and Mirakurun from Yuru Yuri.
  • Tomomi has been given nicknames from a lot of characters. These include:
