This article is about the character from Mori de Hakken! Tamagotch. For the object as a whole, see Cocoon.

Mayutchi (マユっち) or simply Mayu (まゆ) is a character that debuted on the Mori de Hakken! Tamagotch, and is the sole character of the Cocoon Stage.

Name Origin[]

Mayu in Japanese means "Cocoon", a casing made by insects when they grow into the pupa stage.

Appearance[]

Mayutchi resembles a white, peanut-shaped cocoon. Later Japanese artwork would depict it with closed eyes and a pair of antennae protruding from the top.

On Virtual Pets[]

Mori de Hakken! Tamagotch[]

Mayutchi evolves from Imotchi when its weight exceeds 40 mg and will stay on screen for 24 hours. The user must keep it alive by adjusting the temperature; if it gets too hot or too cold, Mayutchi may die. When hatched from a white egg, Imotchi will evolve into one of four different Mayutchi varients, depending on what conditions are met. Each varient has two possible adult evolutions, for a subtotal of eight. Which one it evolves into depends on the temperature. A Mayutchi that evolved from an Imotchi that hatched from a spotted egg will always evolve into Kabutotchi.

If the temperature is in the middle when Mayutchi evolves, it may regress back to Imotchi instead of another adult. If this happens, it will again evolve into Mayutchi after 24-48 hours. This is a requirement if one is intending to obtain Helmetchi; however it will evolve into a regular adult if Helmetchi's secondary conditions are not met.

In the cocoon stage, the only features that can be accessed are the sound, light, clock, flush and health meter. It cannot be cared for directly; the user must provide indirect care to enable Mayutchi to evolve into its next form.

In Games[]

Game de Hakken!! Tamagotchi Version 2[]

In Game de Hakken!! Tamagotchi Version 2, Mayutchi can evolve from either Chobitamatchi or Minotchi. At this point, what adult it will become has already been determined, and the user must wait 9 in-game hours for it to evolve again. The user can advance time if the Mayutchi is their sole Tamagotchi but if they have an Ocean character, then you cannot advance time unless the Ocean character is sleeping.

Tamagotchi Town[]

In the SNES game Tamagotchi Town, Mayutchi can evolve from either Chobitamatchi or Minotchi. The user must wait one in-game day before it reaches adulthood, but still must continue to care for the surrounding environment to ensure it survives. Unlike in the Game Boy game, Mayutchi can eat and defecate and its adult form will not be determined by the time it evolves from Chobitamatchi or Minotchi, rather being based on the stress it has when evolving much like other teenagers in the game.

If lured into another kind of block by food after waking up on the day it is due to evolve, Mayutchi will evolve into Battatchi if lured into a grassland block, Tengutchi if lured into a mountain block or Keganitchi if lured into an ocean block
