Mc entrance

The entrance to Music City.

Music City is a city located on Tamagotchi Planet. It was primarily created as the area for a massively multiplayer online game (MMO), which featured interaction with the Tamagotchi Music Star. Since the release of the TamaTown Tama-Go, Music City has been renamed TamaTown. The game was closed to public on February 6, 2013.

Music City contained a range of online games and activities. Throughout the different areas, players could purchase items for their apartment and online avatar, and chat with others. A Tamagotchi wasn't required in order to enter the game, but passwords acquired from the Music Star or Tama-Go could be used to access additional features.

Melody Land, a location debuting in the anime, greatly resembles to Music City in some degree.

History[]

Music City was first released in December 2008, intended as the TamaTown for the Tamagotchi Music Star. Music City had many of the same basic functions TamaTown now does, but focused on musical aspects, such as creating music.

Later on, in Summer 2010, a new area, Swirly Sweet City, was added to Music City, acting as a tie-in for the then-upcoming Tama-Go. This was the beginning of Music City's development into TamaTown. Since then, two more areas (Flower Hills Park and Forest Falls) were added, along with several new features (such as the day/night function and the ability to log multiple Tamagotchi characters in).

In December 2010, TamaTown was updated with a "Treasure Map Hunt" feature, where users try to find pieces of a map around TamaTown. When all pieces are collected, one receives a map, which can be used to warp to any place in TamaTown at any time.

Some time before March 2013, the website was reduced to a Portuguese version of one of the games, and no login was needed.

On February 6, 2013, after the release of the Android app Tamagotchi L.i.f.e., Bandai America's TamaTown servers were shut down. Attempting to visit them now results in a thank you message for supporting Tamagotchi.

Codes[]

When choosing "PC" from the Door Icon on the Music Star or Tama-Go, a login number (commonly called a "Music City code") was displayed. When input into Music City, the player's appearance (avatar) changed from that of a guest to that of the current character being raised. Tama-Gos also featured the ability to send and receive points.

Locations[]

The Entrance[]

The entrance to Music City is surrounded by a massive apartment complex. A long staircase, covered with a red carpet, leads out into the city. Above the entrance is a scrolling banner that shows news, updates, and notices.

On the left was an apartment building; clicking on it led to the player's room.

Room[]

Rooms could be decorated using items such as instruments and toys and other miscellaneous decorations. Items could be bought from The Funky Gotchi, aqcuired from Memepatchi, or sent as gifts from friends. Codes could also be acquired that let a player receive the instrument on the Music Star. Outfits could also be bought; when in their room, players could change into them. The player's avatar would then change appearance (for example, Dazzilitchi had a witch-themed outfit).

A board was present in the user's Music City apartment room that recorded which Music Star and Tama-Go characters one has logged in as.

Downtown[]

The center of the city. Downtown contains the Concert Hall There you can vote for your favorite bands. There are competitions are held weekly; Club Pop, where bands compete and promote their CDs; and a game stage where the Tamagotchi Photo Match Game can be played.

Gotchi Performing Arts School[]

A school built in Music City, focusing primarily on the study of music. Outside the school stands a statue of the founding Guitaritchi, and a game stage where Gotchidoku can be played. Inside the school is a Recording Studio, where songs can be produced. A machine at the counter just outside the studio puts recorded music onto CDs.

Shopping District[]

A area filled with shops, not too far from Downtown. There is a fountain and several food stands, as well as a game stage for the Tamagotchi Claw Game. Two major shops include Gotchi Guitar, which specializes in a variety of instruments; and The Funky Gotchi, which specialized in apartment decorations, toys, and costumes.

The Beach[]

A beach located west of Downtown. Located here is a game stage for Jump to the Music, which leads to the Flying Library as well as Space City. Included here is Gotchi Records, where CDs can be traded for money or items, money can be donated, the Rankings of bands can be viewed and you can trade CDs for items

The Park[]

A park in Music City, located not far from the beach. A large stage called "Concert in the Park" is built in the park's center, serving as a game stage for the Drum Contest. To the left of the stage is a Harmony Theater, where you can watch mini movies. A Memepapatchi gives out special gifts every month.

Swirly Sweet City[]

Swirly Sweet City is a city based on GuruGuru Town. The Art Work Building can be seen in the background, but it is inaccessible. The guide here is Tennyotchi. At the Cafe, you can buy items and pets. A logged in Tama-Go is required to buy a pet and buy items. Imotchi and Majorite run two shop booths, but it requires a full Tama-Go figure in order to purchase from them. At the Icecream, you can play a game named "Ro! Cham! Beau!" which is playing "Rock, Paper, Scissors" with a random Tama-Go character. At the Donut Shop, you can play a game named "Let's make a doughnut!" where when the screen in the background shows a doughnut, you select the donut it shows on the bar below when the plain doughnut is in the squared area. You can interact with the lights near the fountain.
