Tamagotchi Connection Corner Shop 2

Tamagotchi Connection: Corner Shop 2 (たまごっちのプチプチおみせっち ごひーきに Tamagotchi no Puchi Puchi Omisetchi Gohi-Kini) is a simulation video game published and developed by Bandai Namco for the Nintendo DS handheld video game console. It is the sequel to Tamagotchi Connection: Corner Shop, also released for the Nintendo DS. It would be later followed by Tamagotchi Connection: Corner Shop 3.

The player once again partners up with the same Tamagotchi characters from the first game (Memetchi, Mametchi, and Kuchipatchi) and must try to make all shops royal.

Care Mode

Between this game and the last game, the Care Mode hasn't changed very much. There are five tabs to pick from, and if you poke your partner with the stylus, they will speak to you. The five tabs are:

  1. Snacks - For feeding your partner or giving them drinks.
  2. Clothes - To dress up your partner. Once an outfit is bought you no longer need to keep paying for it.
  3. Room - Items to customize your Tamagotchi's room. Including the layout, design, and so-fourth.
  4. Music - Pick from 1 of 3 songs, each based on your partner.
  5. Secrets - Trade or put in codes for unlockeable items!

Game Comparison & Differences

Many of the Tamagotchis from the first game return, while some don't. Many of the new ones are from Tamagotchi Connection Version 4, Tamagotchi School, and Uratama.

Besides that, other differences include:

  • Shops located in one town instead of three seperate towns.
  • Care items are easier to unlock.
  • A fourth partner can be played with.
  • Some of the activities from the previous game have been upgraded in terms of features.
  • A stamp system was added for the customers.
  • In the first game, before upgrading to the Metchi or Gotchi rank, the partner's father goes in disguise and shows up as a customer. When upgrading to Royal, Princess Tamako appears.
  • In the predecessor, the Gotchi Queen is referred to as "Princess Tamago".
  • In this game, if the player takes too long to serve the customer(s), the music is replaced by a different, faster track, unless it is turned off.
  • In the predecessor, the player could press the START button to pause the game. In this game, the player cannot. The game also cannot be paused during the conversation scenes, as the predecessor can.

Ending

After all the shops become royal, the player is invited to a party at the castle where Princess Tamako refuses to marry Prince Tamahiko, saying that she wants to open her own shops, and she will marry him when she gets older. Many people believe it's a wedding, not a party.

Playing with Princess Tamako

The game is similar to when the player is using a saved file, only they cannot save data, and the only characters in this mode are the castle servants, Prince Tamahiko, the Gotchi Queen, and the unhatched Gotchi King.

Reception

Tamagotchi Connection: Corner Shop 2 was the top-selling game in Japan during its week of release, selling 192,458 copies. The game had sold 713,237 copies in the region by the end of 2006, making it the 14th best-selling game in Japan that year. TC:CS2 was less successful than the original game.

  • On occasion, the partner Tamagotchi will reference the previous shops found in Corner Shop 1.
